Next Assignment: Shutter Speed
We adjust shutter speed to not only to get a proper exposure but also to communicate motion to the viewer. By controlling our shutter speed fast or slow we demonstrate movement in different ways.
2 Photographs
Photo I: Freeze Motion. Demonstrate fast shutter speed by freezing a moving object (no, not a car (or truck, or motorcycle) unless they are doing something more interesting than driving down the road). You will need a lot of light for this.
Photo II: Blur the subject. By choosing a slower shutter speed while shooting a moving subject we can cause our subject to blur across the image. The trick here is to only blur the subject while keeping everything else in the image sharp and clear. (No shooting out the window of a moving car).
